ARREST - Breach of Criminal Behaviour Order

Yesterday, City Centre Neighbourhood officers PC Gregory and PC Pennington from the C Relief Commercial Team were on patrol in on Church Street, targeting hotspots for crime and anti-social behaviour. During the patrol, they entered a car park whereby they found a male acting suspiciously. He didn't appear to have a car and didn't have a reasonable excuse for his presence within the premises.

Following some brief checks on the Police National Computer, officers discovered he was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order, put in place when he was convicted for a previous offence.

The order prohibited the male from entering a specified area of MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE, which he was within when spoken to. The officers subsequently arrested the male and he was charged and remanded in custody for breaching the Criminal Behaviour Order.

This morning he appeared at court, where he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison for his trouble.

If he decides to return to the same area upon his release, we will have no problem arresting him again.
